Mari’s photography transports the viewer to a place of contemplation and an intimate moment of stillness. The viewer is at once invited to begin their own introspective journey as they glimpse a visual record of hers. Her careful observation of the beauty of what is belies the magnitude of being fully immersed in any given moment. Her images bear witness to moments that have been chronicled and veiled in the subtle grain of memory. She utilizes different photographic and printing techniques as a writer plays with the nuances of language to highlight a particular story. Her exploration of media goes hand in hand with her spiritual journey to bring the images to life. The emphasis on how light dances with shadow is the unifying thread that weaves together the realms of spirituality, nature, and artistic expression.
